SOMETHING YOU DID

March 18 - April 26, 2008
A New York Premiere

By Willy Holtzman
Directed by Carolyn Cantor
With Jordan Charney, Joanna Gleason, Adriane Lenox, Portia, Victor Slezak

After productions of Sabina and Bovver Boy's, Willy Holtzman returns to Primary Stages with Something You Did, the story of a notorious Sixties radical that has served nearly 30 years in prison for her part in the accidental killing of an African-American police officer during an explosive war protest. Now she is eligible for parole in a post 9/11 world where bombing is terrorism and dissent, treason. How much can she be faulted for having a conscience? Is she guilty of bringing the war home? A powerfully topical and provocative drama, Something You Did examines the responsibility of citizens for the actions of their government.

"Make a fist if you remember the 1960's. Better yet, unclench your fist and hail a cab over to Primary Stages provocative production of Something You Did."
- Variety

“Fluid and eloquent, Something You Did is a sincere play about the divisions in American culture and politics.”
The New York Times

“Willy Holtzman has done the nearly impossible: In Something You Did, he finds a fresh way to discuss modern terrorism.”
Time Out

“An engrossing, straightforward play briskly staged by director Carolyn Cantor.”
Daily News

“Something You Did’ might well rank as one of the season’s most daring”
Talkin’ Broadway

“’Something You Did’ is something intelligent…”
Star-Ledger

“What is clear is that the past and present are inextricably tied up. Holtzman is particularly good on how yesterday’s Weatherman is today’s Limbaugh, and how the idealized violence of ‘60s radicals has taken on a chilling new cast in the years after 9/11. The plot keeps you guessing.”
